Bourbon Brownies

Bourbon adds a depth of flavor to this thick, chewy, brownies that are worthy of a special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking posder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp butter softened and cut into pieces
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate in pieces

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Line a 9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, combine 1 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt and whisk together.
  • In a large bowl, combine sugar and butter and use a hand mixer to, beat until light and creamy.
  • Add 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 eggs, and 1/4 cup bourbon and beat well.
  • Add dry mixture to the wet ingredients.
  • Fold in chocolate pieces. Batter will be thick.
  • Spread batter in a 9" baking pan. Bake 25-30 minutes until brownies are set. Do not overbake.
  • Cool on a rack and cut into 16 bars.

Notes

Frost with chocolate buttercream if desired.
These are very chewy brownies.
